Diseases!

I am sad because my plants are sick :-( Here are 8 pictures of 4 plants with possible nutrient deficiencies. I'll post what's wrong with them as soon as I figure it out. Any input is of course appreciated

Plumeria seedlings - the one on the right has yellowish leaves. Could be too much water - not sure

Coral Tree(?)
Plumeria cutting that rooted - 3 of the leaves are curly
Vigna Caracalla. This plant his mystified me since its day of germination. It grew fast for a couple weeks but S L O W E D down after that. It wasn't doing well outside, so I took it inside, and it still wasnt doing well. I've since put it back out side in the shade, and it seems to be actually growing from the tip - the leaves still fall off with the slightest pull. :-(

Allamanda - Cherries Jubilee. All the websites online mention a nutrient deficiency in which the veins are green surrounded by yellow, but here the veins are yellow surrounded by green - What gives!? It's still flowring beautifully right now though!

Garden update August 21, 2008

Here are a few new photos from my garden. I wish desperately I had more room to plant things, but my patio is so small, that I am doing the best with what I've got. I have a couple of plants I would like to plant in their permanent positions, but my parents are going to be moving within the next couple of years, so I'm afraid that if I plant these, I won't be able to transplant them when they move! Anyway - Here you go!
Here are some mums I bought at Home Depot. Yes, I cheated. I didn't grow them from seed - but they're just so beautiful and cheap that I can't resist. Right now I am trying to hand cross-pollinate them with another mum variety so we'll see what happens.

Cat break! My roommate's cat, Dolce

Pot. There is a plumeria planted smack in the middle. Starting from the mum on the left and going counter clock-wise: purple ornamental sweet potato, an amberish colored ornamental sweet potato, ornamental oregano, and lastly a gomphrena I started from seed at the end of march. The rocks are to keep the dang squirrels out! I swear they are driving me INSANE. They don't dig where I don't have plants- they dig AT the roots of the plants I planted! How annoying.

Desert willow seedlings. Don't ask me what I'm going to do with them when they are bigger... haha

My deformed green envy zinnia. I'm hoping it will set seed

Maroon nasturtium seedlings with plumeria seedlings in the background!

My first seed harvest!! Purple LabLab seeds. So excited!

3 Passiflora mollissima seedlings.

Allamanda Cherries Jubilee. Supposedly, these can set seed but I can't seem to find the reproductive structures inside the flower. Any help would be appreciated!

Unfurled 'cherries jubilee' flower. Cool shape.

Snapdragon seedlings. Growing slowly, growing slowly. I hope I can get them to survive to flower!

Blooms

Here is what is blooming right now. 6/24/08. All these pictures were taken with my LG Chocolate cell phone camera - I did autocorrect them using the generic picture editing program that came with my computer (not Paintshop or anything). They're actually not bad.

I'm in love - Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee'. I bought this at Lowe's yesterday for $4.97, as mentioned in my previous post. Not bad.

Evolvulus 'Blue Daze' I bought this earlier in the year. I'm not sure why, but it only seems to put out one bloom at a time.

Rudbeckia 'Indian Summer' Also bought this last week, it's beautiful!

Damn Home Depot for selling affordable tropical plants

Well, I bought my gagillionth plumeria today. Here is how it went down:

I went to a neighborhood nursery that I thought I had never been to before, but when I got there I realized that I had already looked around there and decided they didn't have anything worth buying. So, I decided, "Well, I need cactus soil anyway, so I'll just drive a couple miles down MoPac and run into Home Depot." yea, right.

I get to home depot and they have this BEAUTIFUL Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee" for less then $5.00. Here is a picture of it I found on the internet, as mine has not bloomed yet

It is a really pretty dusty rose color. Oh, so excited.

Then, I turn the corner and see Plumeria for sale. for $4.97! I thought to myself, "Well, I don't have a yellow one yet..." Even cooler yet, I think I got a crested Plumeria. Supposedly, the Plumeria will become crested as a result of a non-harmful virus or from growing in unpleasant conditions. Here are some pictures of mine that I just bought today. I have my fingers crossed that when this Plumeria grows up, it will be crested :-)
